Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
01.
Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on teaching about thoughts, behaviors and feelings. Clinicians work with you and your child to challenge disruptive thoughts and behaviors while developing personal coping skills. Therapeutic goals are set and consistently reassessed as treatment progresses.
utilize skills in the home environment for purposes of generalization as is appropriate for the patient.
Exposure and Response Prevention
02.
Exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP) is the process used to break down goals into smaller steps, often ranging from easiest to most difficult. The therapist guides the patient through each step while monitoring anxiety so as to maintain it at a manageable level. ERP is an evidence-based treatment and is effective for children and teens with anxiety as they climb their ‘hierarchy’ to reach their goals.
As consistency is a huge part of the success of ERP, we often train parents to allow continued practice in the home environment and more global understanding of treatment itself for the child.
Mindfulness Training
03.
Mindfulness skills training teaches the body how to regulate and the mind to slow down. Mindfulness is often used with other treatments to increase awareness and regulatory skill.
At Cheerie Mental Health, mindfulness is integrated into treatment as needed and is often used to help parents regulate within the parent-child relationship.
